This weekend @sydneyoperahouse hosted an amazing all things menopause conference attended by some of the world leaders in women's medicine. I was so happy to spend a few hours making sure that I am up to date with the current therapies and strategies to ensure that women not only make this life transition more easily but actually thrive and start to view this part of their life as the BEST years of their life.
I sincerely hope that the audience was filled with GPs who want to make sure they can support the 51% of their patients the best way possible.
If you have a GP who has offered antidepressants, told you it's a natural part of life that you just have to suffer through, made you feel like a hypochondriac, or worse, told you that hormone supplementation is dangerous and will increase your risk of breast cancer. Find a new GP.
To my wonderful clients, many of whom have had long chats with me about their symptoms, keep talking. Help is available and you don't have to suffer.
I'm looking forward to seeing you soon ☺️

I did my first session at a new gym today. No big

I did my first session at a new gym today. No big deal, right? But for some reason I felt really nervous! I've always felt at home at the gym, probably something to do with living a good part of 20+ years of my life in one.
But today I felt those nerves of a newbie. I can only assume it was because the love of strength training that I used to feel has been missing for so long. I think I had an unspoken thought that if this new gym didn't help me find it again, I would give up trying to reignite the old passion.
So, how did it go? I felt a glimmer of the old feeling, and I'm hoping it will continue to grow as I find my way around the weights room. (This is one super stocked strength room!!)
Hopefully, I'll also make some new friends, which always helps with motivation and consistency.

I'm sure this has happened to you, I know I have done it to others, but I was recently reminded of how annoying this can be.
I was talking with a friend about a problem I was having and the steps I was taking to fix it. Then, when I finished talking, she started to outline a plan that she felt would help. The problem was, it was all pretty much exactly what I told her I was already doing!
I felt really deflated and totally unheard.
When I see you for a massage, my honest hope is that you never feel this way when discussing the reasons you have made an appointment for a treatment.
