WELL-BEING MASSAGE
The Mayo Clinic reports a 60 minute massage can lower cortisol, the stress hormone, by up to 30% after just one session.
A study published in the journal Depression and Anxiety found participants who received regular massage therapy for 12 weeks had a 50% reduction in anxiety symptoms. In addition to it’s calming effects, massage therapy can also help improve sleep disturbances.
At BodyTonic this therapy is based entirely on how the individual is feeling on the day of treatment. It may consist entirely of a gentle relaxation massage or something more vigorous such as deep tissue or sports massage based. Each client can choose their own background music, or no music at all if so deisred. The session can be silent or “chatty”. The client may even bring their own oil or cream that they prefer to use. Each element of the massage is based on the individual need.
The deisred outcome of these sessions is to leave the client feeling nurtured and peaceful at the conclusion of the session.
